You can experience something special in this farm house. We usually refer to our people as ‘White people’. This was probably because many people wore white clothes. Why did our ancestors like white clothes that easily became dirty and also difficult to wash?


Our ancestors thought of the color white sacredly from long ago. Also, it was the sign of cleanness and pride. At one point during the Joseon Dynasty, wearing white was prohibited become it could not be classified with the mourning dress. However, it was no use. The love of white clothes of our ancestors was tremendous. This does not mean that they only wore white clothes. At one point during the Joseon Dynasty, natural dye was a trend by using plants from nature. The most frequently used plants were natural polygonumtinctroium used to make blue, Sappan wood to make red color like the sun, and gardenia seeds to make bright yellow. Indigo, in particular, was one of the enjoyed colors for the common people as well. You can experience dye with the materials obtained from the nature like the Joseon Dynasty people.
