Stepping stone bridge

A stepping stone bridge is a bridge made by placing stones or piles of earth intermittently in shallow rivers or swamps, allowing people to cross. It is commonly found in small village streams and also in tidal flats. The form of this bridge can be found not only in Korea but around the world, making it one of the oldest and most basic types of bridges.

While it is a rare form today, it is environmentally friendly as it causes minimal ecological impact. For example, it does not significantly disrupt the natural flow of rivers, and it also makes it easier for wildlife to move across.
