[62] Pihyangjeong

This building is modeled after the famous Pihyangjeong in Jeongeup, a representative pavilion from the Joseon Dynasty and a national heritage. The pavilion is raised on a high wooden floor, offering not only the splendid decorative colors visible from the outside, but also a scenic view of the beautiful village landscape when looking down from the pavilion.

The name "Pihyang" carries the meaning of "a Confucian scholar’s will to live a peaceful life, separated from the secular world, quietly cultivating knowledge in nature. " This pavilion, overlooking a tranquil riverside, reflects the image of a scholar wishing to seclude themselves here, study, and nurture future scholars. Its significance is further emphasized by its location next to Chungyeon Seowon, a place for educating future scholars and honoring sages.
