A breathing bowl! A live bowl full of life! Yes. All of this refers to world-class pottery that was invented by our ancestors! The origin of pottery is considered to be Comb-patterned Pottery that appeared in Korean peninsula in 4500 B.C. and came into wide use in daily life from Joseon Dynasty, as people recognized the wonderful scientific effects of pottery.

The sand grains of pottery clay, which is the source of pottery, creates fine holes on the wall of a bowl and helps the fermentation of food such as kimchi or soybean paste. Also, a pottery bowl is made by covering it with lye from burned trees, and thanks to the natural corrosion-resistant material generated from this, grains or seeds can be preserved for a long time. Our ancestors reflected their culture and spirit into the pottery by using it as bowls to contain food and as tools for music, ceremony, and ancestral rites. This Pottery Shop displays pottery bowls, which were actually used, with an interesting explanation of how pottery was used historically. Also, the Pottery Experience Room has a space for you to use clay to make pottery. Now, shall we check out the charms of pottery, which has the wisdom of our ancestors, in the Pottery Shop?
