This house is a restored traditional residence originally located in Seongsan-ri, Daejeon-myeon, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do.
The main house has a unique L-shape layout that is not commonly seen in the southern region.
A wooden hall (daechung) sits in the center, with a main room on one side and another room on the opposite side.
The kitchen is attached to the main room, forming an L-shape layout.
The men's quarters (sarangchae) are arranged in a C-shape layout facing the main house, and they include both a guest room and a kitchen placed side by side.
In this house, you can also find a traditional item called a "ttwari". It was mainly used by women in the kitchen.
The ttwari is made by coiling several strands of straw rope into a ring, then wrapping the outside with rice straw, bulrush, or sometimes cloth.
It was used to carry water jars or pots on the head, helping to steady the load and reduce pressure on the head.
There's also a string attached to one end of the ttwari so the person could hold it and keep it from slipping while walking.
